Once again it’s almost time. End of June and it’s time for higher altitude, cooler temperatures and camping in the mountains. This time we are taking some old friends and their Jeep.
As usual, when we get up in the mountains, it means no cell service so you won’t see much of the trip till we get back.
So we get asked this question every time we go up in the mountains. Are we afraid or worried about getting lost. The simple answer is “No” and “No”. We take a lot of precautions. Someone always knows where we are going to be. We leave maps with site pins. We also leave an agenda of places we intend to go visit. We also leave a timeline on when to expect checkins.
As far as camping goes, we also are careful of all rules, including safety at the campsite. This time there will be three Jeeps, four adults, and three dogs. Nothing will sneak up on the camp. All medical needs are taken along as well as we have an evacuation plan in the event something were to happen.
Last June we had sun, sleet, rain, winds, snow and hail all in one week. Several years ago we were in a white out. So we always take plenty of extra provisions and clothing for the whatever. And we have all sorts of varied communications.
So not to fear – we will report back after the trip.
